As a social media agency, we’ve worked with dozens of brands who are looking to take their social platforms to the next level.

Today, we’re going to tell you how to make the most out of your Instagram stories.

According to Instagram, over 500 million accounts use Instagram stories each day, and 1/3 of the stories viewed are from a business profile. If you haven’t previously dabbled in the art of Instagram stories, we’d recommend you jump on board, as it’s a great way to connect with your followers and showcase a more organic, genuine side of your brand. Not only this, but you can also get more information from your followers on what they like and their interests by using some of the below features.

Piece-to-Camera

If you’ve typically shied away from showing your face on your Instagram feed, your stories are a great way to introduce yourself to your followers – stories only last 24 hours, so it won’t be embedded forever on your feed (however we do recommend adding them to your story highlights!) and can be a more relaxed and natural interaction than a post.

Showing your face not only builds consumer trust (as they know who they are buying from), but can also be used to explain or highlight aspects of your brand that consumers may not previously know. This could be showing what you’ve been up to behind the scenes, a thought or message you’d like to share, or like us, you run your followers through a-day-in-the-life (we call it our MC Home Hustle).

Questions

Another great way to engage your followers is using the Q&A feature. This allows your followers to have any burning questions answered and also learn a bit more about your brand from the responses that you share. You can choose which questions you answer, so no need to be nervous! We’d recommend answering these questions in a piece-to-camera like the above (don’t forget to add subtitles or a short written caption of what you are speaking about), or you can alternatively type your response out on a coloured screen or use an image to explain further.

You can also reverse this prompt and ask your followers a question – what do they think of your new product? What can your brand add to their range? What are their thoughts on X,Y and Z?

Quiz Me!

In addition to a Q&A, Instagram has also given the opportunity to quiz your followers. The quiz feature could be used to test your followers and see how much they know about the face behind the brand, or the origin of the brand (simultaneously learning something new about your brand in the process), OR it can also be used to gather categorised answers for a question you have, like the above – using the options as multiple choice.

Whether you choose any of the options above, or mix around with GIFs, videos or filters, we’d love to see your story creations inspired by this blog.
